Skijoring

Here’s something I didn’t know I loved until moving to Montana: Skijoring.
Skijoring, simply, is a horse, a rider, a skier, and a rope. The skier holds the rope, pulled down a set course by the cowboy (or girl) galloping through the snow on horseback. The fastest team through the course wins.
Every year the 320 Ranch, just a few miles north of us, hosts a weekend of skijoring. There’s no better way to spend a sunny Montana day than posted up on a fence, Bloody Mary in hand, watching horses and skiers fly by.

Pictures from the day are below, if you’d like to see.

Here’s to you, cowboys.

What is a better lunch than an all-dressed hot dog?

Hello, handsome.
